Space is the first resource. You stack platforms because the plot is a cliff, not a Stardew square. 1.0 creators learned to treat the farm like a factory: storage in the middle, basins in arrays, animals in a fenced column that never shares a floor with food. Everything can move. Mailbox and cargo pad move with a pickaxe. The tent and buildings move with a toolbox from Mody’s early quest.
Rebuilding from the top down is cheaper than you think. You get platforms, basins, and sprinklers back. You lose plants. So do not start a 40-basin Endyam carpet until the animal wing has fences. Place machines so their interaction side faces a walkway. You can tuck a building behind a platform, but you still need a door.
A working first layout
Ground: path, mailbox, cargo pad, trash, well. Floor 1: storage shelf and workbenches. Floor 2–3: wooden basins in sprinkler range. Floor 4: sleeping and kitchen. A separate column: shed, trough, toilet, bell. That column never opens onto basins. If the free pheasant arrives before the fence node, park the bird in the shed interior and close the door.
Power and water
Lightning rods on the highest deck. Batteries near the crafting wall. Rain barrels under open sky. Farm lights above indoor rows. Wind and solar want the roof and hate being boxed. The automation guide takes over when drone stations join this layout.
Later plots
Wetland Farm and Old City Farm are extra factories, not holiday homes. Specialize them: fungus and rice in wet, combat staging in the ruins. Do not clone the starter layout three times and wonder why you still walk 200 tiles for a nail.
Booth, backpack, and sibling pages
The telephone booth stays on the starter cliff. Dial 12311, 24141, or 35321. How to redeem if a rebuild buried it behind a platform. Put booth and mailbox together. The cargo pad launches gold; the booth dials disks. Do not expect a keypad on Wetland Farm. Buy Hult’s 500 / 4,000 / 10,000 backpacks before expansions at 5,000 / 25,000 / 65,000 / 150,000. Early game is that spend order. Ten slots fill after one Rivervalley trip.
Farming covers basins. Protect covers acid 0.45 and rods on the highest deck. Animals covers mood 35 / 50 / 80 / 100. Automation takes over when sprinklers and station bots join this layout. Equipment lists every machine. How to play is the 6:00 wake. Animals eat ground crops even with full troughs — that sentence is why this page exists.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move the landing pad?
Yes. Pickaxe it. Put it next to storage so you stop forgetting launches.
Why do animals eat watered crops?
They path onto ground-level plants even with full troughs. Height and fences are the fix.
Do overlapping buildings break saves?
Slight right-edge overlap is a known space trick. Do not bury interaction hitboxes.
When should I expand the farm plot?
After backpack 1 and a stable Endyam loop. The 5,000 gold first expansion is cheaper than chaos, more expensive than a second basin row.
Where is the telephone booth after a rebuild?
Starter farm, usually the right side. How to redeem if you buried it. Wetland Farm has no documented keypad.
Do genes stop animals?
No. Fractal pumpkin on the floor is still a pheasant snack. Height and fences.
